Circle of Knowledge: Building Better Futures
October 2 and 3 the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre hosted their annual Circle of Knowledge and Practices conference held at Victoria Inn in Winnipeg. Thousands of Manitoba-based educators joined the conference and took part in the dozens of learning circles and workshops hosted by MFNERC and MFNSS facilitators and staff. On theme for building better futures, workshops included building on technological skills and traditional skills passed on from generations of First Nations families and educators, with workshops ranging from Computer Basics, 3D Printing, harvesting and preparing wild foods, beading from traditional materials, and First Nations languages. In addition to workshops, educators had the option to watch Anangong Miigaading (Star Wars: A New Hope) dubbed in Anishinaabemowin in the central ballroom.
