The Transportation Department oversees all functions of the operation and maintenance of school bus transportation. The goal is to provide safe, efficient, and economical transportation of students between home and school on a regular schedule and between other destinations within or outside First Nations.
Transportation staff provides supports for school bus transportation safety and ensures bus safety inspections are completed. Communication between schools and
bus drivers have been improved through the installation of the two-way radio systems.
Purchasing school buses for each school has allowed for school trips to attend sporting activities in other First Nations.
First Aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and AED (automated external defibrillator) training has been provided for bus drivers and will continue on an annual
basis. School staff will also have training in the use of the AED equipment installed in all schools.
