The Manitoba First Nations School System (MFNSS)
is a leader in First Nations Education and works in
partnership with First Nations to ensure student
success. The MFNSS logo portrays geese flying in
formation, conveying the importance of respectful communication and teamwork. When geese
fly in a V-formation, the leader rotates back into
formation when tired and another takes the point
position. There are five geese depicted in the logo,
representing five nations, Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak,
Dakota Oyate, Denesuline, and Anishininiwak.
The two wings emulate the eagle wings of the
MFNERC logo, while the space between the wings
illustrate life-giving water and a nurturing spirit.
The four colours reflect the medicine wheel, and
the teachings held within it.
The logo is based on the teachings which serve
as a foundation for the MFNSS, and the success
of our students: Identity, Partnership, Support,
Communication and Commitment.
